At Thatcher Chiropractic, PC, nearly all patients receive several forms of rehabilitation. This rehabilitation starts immediately after the patient's initial examination that includes exercise and stretches. Recovery from a whiplash injury, work injury, sports injury or long-term muscle-joint problem can take longer to achieve without rehabilitation provided by chiropractic care. James A. Thatcher, a chiropractor in Colorado Springs since 1992, has long known the combined effectiveness of chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, physical therapy modalities, massage and exercise rehabilitation which are all performed at our office. Sometimes dry needle therapy is incorporated into treatment protocols. These approaches can help improve motion, increase muscle strength, enhance coordination and hopefully prevent your original health injury or problem from returning again and again.
Dr. Thatcher works with local chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists and medical physicians when needed to effectively evaluate or treat some injuries or conditions. The ordering of laboratory testing or imaging (x-ray, CAT scan, MRI scan) is also provided by Dr. Thatcher.
All of our patients receive a set of simple exercises and stretches they can perform at home. Some exercises may require the use of specialized equipment to isolate or strengthen and increase the stability of the spine. In these situations, referral is made to local physical therapists.
All in all, good physical fitness is one of the best ways to reduce the factors that lead to back and extremity injuries, to minimize damage if an injury occurs and to speed recovery time.
